Description:
The four panel red field design is characteristic of many types of Turkmen door rugs (engsis). Usually those of the large Tekke tribe show a niche protracting into and through the upper “bulls’ eye’ panel. but here it is lacking. Pine tree ashik borders, double E outer band and an additional lower panel (elem) with a small, lozengoid triple flower repeat. Essential palette of red, burnt orange, navy and ivory. Surviving plainwoven ends,.Good condition.
