Oushak in western Turkey has been weaving rugs for at least six centuries, in various repeating patterns and in medallion styles. Red is the favoured ground tone. Sizes range from mats to enormous mansion size pieces. The antique examples are always on wool foundations. Greens and blues are among the popular accent tones.
