This finely woven recent piece shows a quasi-architectural interior domical pattern with a 24 lappet round medallion with conforming multi-layered sub-medallions, supported by squinches and panels with modified turtle palmette patterns. Navy, red cream and straw are perfectly distributed, and there is no overarching field tone. Ivory cartouches alternate with octogrammes in the near black border. The domical mosque interior rugs are definitely a Tabriz specialty and the designers have drawn from ancient and modern structures in the old city of Tabriz. As new condition with a short, velvety pile.
