Tabriz loves “bookcover” layouts. Also layered compositions. Combine them in a fine weave and one get this attractive c. 1900 carpet with an ecru field, facet-lobed red sub-field, and an ecru oval medallion enclosing a conformal near black sub-medallion with powerful split volute pattern. Everything else is stem, tendril, leaf and flower pattern. Sand border with rust turtle palmettes. Rust minor borders. Short and upright, crisp pile. Good condition for this urban, NW Persian piece.
