Antique Persian Isfahan. This is a finely woven classic from a workshop in the old Persian capital of Isfahan. The bone field centres a navy and red pendanted and lappeted ogival medallion, positioned by navy corners created from recemed strapwork. The background fill of palmettes, rosettes and curved leaves seem to flow from the medallion rather than passing beneath it. The ecru border shows reversing shield palmettes, small cloud bands and forked arabesques. Fairly large for Isfahan work.
