Ferghan (Farahan) Sarouks with their short piles curvilinear drawing and asymmetric knots, were woven only in the1880-1910 window in th3e Arak-Sarouk district of western Persia. This good condition antique scatter shows a wavy-edged navy medallion diminishing toward the vertical ends and centred on four converging palmettes. Ivory extended corners, madder red field with a sprightly floral pattern. Light blue rosette and split acanthus border. Characteristic design and colours for the type and period.
