Antique Persian Kashan. This dark blue ground city medallion carpet dates from the late 1920’s, and features a small rounded centre piece in a dark red with large, triangular tonally en suite corners. Kashan has perfected the field pattern, as seen here, of swirling palmettes, swinging vinery and C-shaped leaves. The matching deep red border shows reversing petal palmettes. The medallion pendants are minimal and separated the pile is short and resilient.
