The well-abrashed light rust to dusty rose field of this southern Caucasian kellegi display four large Turkmen-style “guls" with ivory, royal blue, green and khaki details Each motif is centred by an octagon with a radiating four palmette focus. Narrow triple border with a cream ground polychrome floating rosette pattern. All wool construction, moderately coarse knotting. Generally softer palette. Good condition. Did the Karabagh weavers borrow a Turkmen gul or did they come up with the design independently?
