A single tall red hexagonal cartouche centred by a column of stars, dominates the sapphire blue indigo field. On both sides are chains of boxes with similar stars. This overall pattern also appears in double hexagon form, on Kazak and eastern Turkish rugs alike. The main strip style ivory border features chains of conjoint pairs of reversing ‘C’ elements. Outer minor of divided boxes. Moderate/coarse weave, all wool construction. Good condition. A good, unusual piece from the 3rd quarter of the 19th century.
