Antique Caucasian Kuba. The navy field of this first half 19th century east Caucasian rug shows an ascending offset column design of stylized, partially fringed palmettes, with an S-scroll narrow additional field horizontal stripes. Ecru main border with stars, bent combs, split arrowheads and geometric arabesque fragments. A finely woven rare type, known in only a few other examples.
