Sarouk Rug Antique, 1920’s. Dark blue ground Sarouks are often attributed to Mohajeran village in the Arak district, famous for particularly well rendered pieces. The rich dark indigo field shows symmetrical leaves, floral arrays and sprays and radiating blossoms, all well-spaced and independently floating. The rose border features oblique corner palmettes, doubly bend acanthus leaves and rosettes.
