Although the vast majority of very finely woven Nains come with ivory or ecru grounds, this older central Persian city scatter shows a saturated red ground superimposed with an ivory eight point round medallion. Complex cartouche-palmette pendants with blue accents. Teal and ecru “fungus†leaf corners. Mid-blue main border with palmettes and split arabesques. Cotton foundation, good condition with a short, stiff velvet pile. A Nain with true individuality.
