This is a very attractive NW Persian rustic carpet with a madder field centred by an ecru multi-lobate medallion outlined by a continuous light blue split arabesque. Four corner cypresses. shield pendants, small tertiary flowers. Cream border with well-spaced reversing turtles, geometric rosettes, and boteh leaves. A later 19th century carpet with real folk art character and a bold look Moderate weave, cotton foundation. Fairly god condition with light area wear. Natural dyes and handspun materials.
