Antique Persian Serapi. No obvious medallion here, but the red field harbours a squarish dark blue panel densely overlaid with fronds, unusual palmettes and a central oval motif.  Ecru en suite corners. Navy strip style turtle border. Definitely a well-woven step away from the standard medallion Heriz carpets. Clearly a special design, but it did not catch on more widely in the Heriz district. Real folk art.
