Antique Caucasian Shirvan Area Rug. This is a totally classic and highly desirable example with variously patterned geometric row-reversing botehs on a straw field, which continues above the pointed niche arch into the spandrels. The ecru strip style border and attached arch are both in ecru with parrot or bunches of grapes motives, although it is not dated, a middle 19th century date is reasonable. Fine weave.
