A characteristic c. 1900 west Turkish workshop carpet with an ivory field with an allover field pattern roughly adopted from the Persian Harshang design, with the addition of a cartouche and pinwheeling rectangles, but retaining the ragged palmettes. Attractive asymmetric floating scatter. Rust strip style main border with serrated cypresses, tilted palmettes and broken bits of angular vinery. Coarse weave, thick pile, floppy handle, all wool construction. Good condition.
