"David Alfaro Siqueiros (1896-1974) was a Mexican painter, revolutionary artist, and political activist, known for his influential role in the Mexican Muralism movement. Siqueiros's work, including his murals, reflected his political beliefs and often depicted themes of revolution, social struggle, and the plight of the working class. Artistic Development and Political Activism: Travelled to Europe, where he was exposed to Cubism and met fellow artist Diego Rivera. Became a key figure in the Mexican Muralism movement, along with Rivera and José Clemente Orozco. His murals often depicted revolutionary themes and historical events, aiming to inspire social change and promote Mexican identity. A fervent communist, he participated in the Spanish Civil War on the Republican side and was active in organizing workers and protesting against fascism. He was imprisoned on several occasions for his political activities. Experimented with new materials and techniques, using industrial paint and airbrushes to create his murals. "
