Tabriz has been weaving exceptionally fine carpets since the 16th century and this old ivory ground example carries on the tradition with its densely patterned oval medallion in red and navy, with vasiform palmettes Smaller pendants project laterally. Barbed forked leaves, small palmettes and layered sickle leaves decorate the field. Rust arabesques edge the corners. Red palmette border.
