Antique Persian Bidjar rugs are known for their jewel tones and durability. This room sized rug has intricate pattern details and an eye catching design. Weavers dampen the heavy weft threads during construction and beat them down vigorously using a heavy metal comb. When the wool dries, the foundation shrinks and packs together so tightly that the pile stands almost strictly vertical. Because dirt and dust cannot easily penetrate the stiff, compact pile, these rugs can withstand decadesÑor even centuriesÑof heavy foot traffic. Herati (fish) pattern, Mina Khani, all-over geometric or floral repeats, and bold central medallions (often with anchor-like pendant ends). The item you're interested in is in good condition. Please note, however, that all lots are sold "AS IS." Condition reports are provided as a courtesy and do not guarantee the item's condition, quality, or authenticity.
