This Antique Persian Serapi rug is a beautiful mix of warm earth tones and boarder of a ocean blue. A Persian Serapi rug is an antique, fine-grade carpet from the Heriz district in northwest Iran (Persia), typically woven from the late 19th century to around 1910. They come from the area around Heriz, near Mount Sabalan. The term "Serapi" is a market label derived from Serab-i ("of Serab"), referring to the market town where they were traded. They are prized for softer, more muted or earthy tones (gentle blues, subtle rusts, terracottas, and ivory) compared to later Heriz rugs. The item you're interested in is in good condition. Please note, however, that all lots are sold "AS IS." Condition reports are provided as a courtesy and do not guarantee the item's condition, quality, or authenticity.
