A very rare and collectible, wool warp NW Persian village piece, with an ecru field decorated with a floral lattice, and a matching medallion with a pictorial centre featuring a lion and phoenix in the 15th century Turkish style. Plain royal blue surround. Red main border with rosettes, stiff leaves and square floret arrays in the Bakshaiesh-Karaja manner. The ascribed date canot be far from the mark.
