The midnight blue field displays a tri-columnar version of the desirable Mustafi pattern with bouquets, broken wreaths and acanthus volutes.Red, teal and ivory detail tones. The Mustafi appears fully developed around 1860, but it must have a European textile origin. None has been isolated, however. The Mustafi has become a mainstay of quality Bidjar weaving, mostly on blue grounds, occasionally on ivory. Solid, dense, extremely robust weave. Well-woven, Kurdish town carpet. Good condition.
