An early 1920’s version of the popular “American Sarouk†design of detached floral sprays on a red ground, here quite fine and possibly attributable to Mahajeran village in the west Persian Sarouk/Arak district. Details in navy and other blues, and sandy straw.. Navy strip-style border with doubled sickle leaves and enclosed palmettes. Well-woven on cotton. Leathery handle. Good condition.
