Antique Persian Tribal Afshar.The Afshars today inhabit southwestern Persia and are active weavers, mostly, as here, of colorful, semi-geometric scatters. Here there is no overarching field tone, but rather a telework allover pattern of minutely stepped lozenges in cream, dark blue, red and goldenrod, all with rosette centres. An inner bitonal reversing crenellated border edges the field. The main dark blue border shows a strip style layout of octilobe cartouches and octagonal rosettes. Ecru, reversing fan palmette minors.
