This is a semi – pictorial central Persian city carpet with a velvety pile of Manchester-spun wool, showing a red field with cypresses, flowering trees and shrubs, and various species of perching birds including peacocks. Near black main border with an arching meander, cypresses and more tiny birds. Bilaterally symmetric field with accents in beige, straw, near black and medium blue. Cotton foundation, fine weave, good condition.
